Dead sea <死海> ＆ Masada <マサダ>

死海は地球上で一番低い場所に位置し一番低い所では海面から417メートル！水はオイルのようで塩分が普通の海水の10倍もあるんだそうです。
マサダは世界遺産に指定されている場所、イスラエルではエルサレムのVia Dolorosaの次に有名な観光地。私はここに朝日を見るために早起きし、徒歩で上まで登りました。

	<Masada> 巨大な石のようにも見える岩山の頂上部は、船のデッキのような台地になっていて、意外な広さ。南北600メートル、東西200メートルほど。東方には死海が望めます。写真は頂上からの眺め。 Masada is a rugged natural fortress, of majestic beauty, in the Judaean Desert overlooking the Dead Sea. It is a symbol of the ancient kingdom of Israel, its violent destruction and the last stand of Jewish patriots in the face of the Roman army, in 73 A.D. It was built as a palace complex, in the classic style of the early Roman Empire, by Herod the Great, King of Judaea, (reigned 37 ? 4 B.C.). The camps, fortifications and attack ramp that encircle the monument constitute the most complete Roman siege works surviving to the present day.
	<Mineral Beach> こミネラルビーチは普通の死海ビーチとは違って真っ黒な湖のようです。ここには死海の水を使ったホットスプリングがあり、ビーチで全身パックした後は死海ホットスプリングで体を温めリラックスできます。
	<Nachal David> ハイキングスッポットです。この中ではいくつかの滝や野生の動物が見られます。
